Limitations and disclaimers

Pivot Lab is a research tool, not investment advice. We are not a registered investment advisor, broker-dealer, or financial planner. Nothing in the app constitutes a recommendation to buy, sell, or hold any security. Trading involves substantial risk of loss; you are solely responsible for your trading decisions and their outcomes.

No warranty. The app is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. Market data and analysis may be delayed, incomplete, or wrong; verify anything material with a primary source before acting on it.

No SLA. Pivot Lab is best-effort. We do not promise any specific uptime, response time, or availability. Maintenance, vendor outages, and data-provider rate limits can and will cause downtime without notice.

Data sources & attribution

The app aggregates market and fundamental data from third-party sources, including Yahoo Finance (market quotes and fundamentals), SEC EDGAR (regulatory filings), Finviz (screening data), OpenFIGI (security identifiers), and Nasdaq / NasdaqTrader (symbol reference data). AI-generated summaries are produced using Anthropic's Claude models. These names are used only to attribute the underlying data and services.

Market and fundamental data may be delayed, incomplete, or inaccurate; do not rely on it for trading decisions. Figures can lag the market, be revised, or be wrong because of upstream provider errors, outages, or rate limits. Always verify anything material against a primary source before acting on it.

Account use

  • The service is currently invite-only and intended for personal use by the invited user.
  • Keep your password secret. You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • Do not share your account, scrape the service, attempt to reverse-engineer it, or use it to harass other users.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Probe, scan, or test the security of the service.
  • Use automated tooling to extract data beyond what you'd naturally consume in the UI.
  • Upload content you don't have the rights to, including copyrighted research from third-party sources.
  • Use the service for any unlawful purpose.

Termination

You can stop using the service at any time and request account deletion via legal@pivotlab.fyi. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, with or without notice depending on severity. We'll make a reasonable effort to give you an export window first when the circumstances allow.

Intellectual property

You retain ownership of the journal entries and notes you write. The app's code, design, and aggregated analysis remain ours.

The trading methodologies referenced throughout the app — including the SEPA methodology and Volatility Contraction Pattern published by Mark Minervini, and the relative-strength and market-direction concepts associated with Investor's Business Daily (IBD) and William O'Neil — are the published work of their respective authors. Pivot Lab is an independent educational tool that implements those published ideas for personal use, and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Mark Minervini, Investor's Business Daily, or the respective owners of any referenced methodology, trademark, or publication. Such names and terms are used descriptively (nominative use) to identify the methodologies the app implements, not to imply any association.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that can't be resolved informally goes to the courts of California.

Changes

We'll update the effective date above when these terms change and surface a notice on sign-in for material changes. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
